Sophie
“Not everyone will like you and that’s ok. Stop trying to make everyone like you.”
Sophie is someone who cares deeply about those around her, which is evident both in her professional life as a nurse, and personal life as a friend. She is outgoing, easy-going, and kind. At 21, she uncovered the power of her own independence when she boarded a flight on her own, and moved herself across the globe. Sophie values human connection and doesn’t let opportunities pass her by. This is her story.
P: Please introduce yourself.
S: Hi! My name is Sophie, I’m 27 years old and I’m a Paedatric nurse working and living in London!
P: Describe or define yourself in your own words.
S: A chatty, happy go lucky girl wondering her way through life.
P: What is your favourite thing about yourself?
S: How caring I am. Sometimes this can be to my own detriment as I care too much but by being a caring person I’ve created many wonderful friendships and met some many amazing people. It’s also created so many wonderful opportunities for me!
P: Tell us a story. Have you had an experience that’s defined you or made you stronger?
S: When I was 21 I made the decision to go travelling in Australia by myself. I’d just finished University and was sure what I wanted from life. I had savings so decided that I was going to take a leap and go solo! It was the best thing I ever did. I learnt so much about myself in those 2 years and grew so much as a person.
P: What is one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self?
S: Not everyone will like you and that’s ok. Stop trying to make everyone like you.
P: What does being a woman mean to you?
S: Being a woman to me is a constant journey or growing and learning. Even when we make mistakes or bad decisions we can learn from that and it moulds us into a better person.
P: Who is one woman that inspires you? What would you say to her if she were here now?
S: My mum, always.
As I have become older I have even more respect for her and what she has done for me as a mother.
She’s loving, passionate and the best teacher. We may annoy each other endlessly but she really is my best friend.
